About UWC New Zealand
The first United World College Scholarships were awarded by the New Zealand National Committee in the mid-70s. Since then, the NC have awarded over 175 scholarships and we now have graduates from all UWCs except UWC East Africa. A number of New Zealand graduates have gone on to further distinctions, including Rhodes Scholarships and Young Achievers Awards. New Zealand graduates are represented in a wide range of professions; prominent graduates include Victoria Ransom (Entrepreneur), Maddie Dai (Cartoonist and Screenwriter), Gabe Armstrong-Scott (Commonwealth Games Diver), Andrew Paquin (Film Producer), Rohan O'Neill Stevens (Nelson City Council Deputy Mayor), Annette Sykes (Lawyer), Cate Brett (Journalist for the Spinoff), Che Tamahori (Multimedia Designer) and David Cunliffe (Former MP).
